Doc Coyle’s progressive hard rock outfit Vagus Nerve has just released their 2nd music video for the track “Promised Me The World” from their Visceral EP released in 2016. The video was shot, directed, and edited by Carlos Almonte using footage captured from their 1st tour.
The band has also announced tour dates in the Northeast US this summer.

In lieu of having a guest, Doc decides to put a spotlight on the fans and supporters by answering their questions for an entire episode.

After several years of guesting on other podcasts like Metalsucks, Danko Jones, and 100 Words podcast, I had been contemplating starting my own show for quite some time. As a huge fan of the medium, I wanted to take my time, and put something together that is hopefully unique and reflective of my experience and personality.

Starting as a passion project of ex-God Forbid guitarist, Doc Coyle, and Phyllotaxis singer-songwriter, Ravi Orr, Vagus Nerve became fully realized as a band in 2014 when they enlisted the talents of drummer, Moe Watson (Shai Hulud), bassist, Aden Oxenreider (Cosm), and guitarist, Mike Gowen (MoTHER).
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the atmospheric rock band is ready to take the next step. The band have also debuted their 1st music video for the song “Pull Me Out”, directed by Douglas Henderson for Bold Creative Media out of York, PA. Like the songwriting, music production, and album artwork before it, this video falls in line with the elegance and beauty that characterizes Vagus Nerve.
Although I announced Vagus Nerve a couple years ago, it’s been mostly quiet with the band because there were no live performances to announce or music to showcase. Now, we have HUGE news!
This is a big deal for me, and I couldn’t be more excited. I know it’s way different than God Forbid and might not be old fans’ cup of tea, but I really do hope you guys enjoy it!
After a couple years of trading files, false starts, long drives to jam, hiccups, looking for band members, my rock project turned actual band, Vagus Nerve, has decided to make it’s first live appearance ever at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY this Saturday night, March 22nd.
This show is all due to the ever talented Ms. Meghann Wright and her birthday celebration. I would like to thank her personally for helping make this happen.

I’ve had several ideas floating around my head, but I haven’t written an in-depth blog piece in almost 2 months. Despite my intro, I wasn’t creatively blocked. I just didn’t have any damn time. As many of you know, I took a touring gig filling in on bass guitar for metalcore heavyweight champs, Unearth. The month before the tour was a whirlwind of busy activity. In addition to tying up loose ends with my new rock band (Vagus Nerve), cover band (Rebel Noise Group), picking up extra shifts bartending, teaching guitar at School of Rock and privately, and curating an educational performance for Tomato’s House of Rock in NYC, I still had to learn 14 Unearth songs in whatever free time I had. Thankfully, all of the tasks were completed, but I was left little time to be creative….in any arena.
